Starship Troopers 3:Marauder

The Fed Nets were propaganda commercials that were thread through the narrative in all the Starship Trooper films. When I got the material I was encouraged to think beyond what we already knew of the Fed Nets. I suggested expanding on the "Want to Know More?" and engaging the audience in a diiferent way. I developed a new look to the propaganda pieces, making them more in line to the way news is covered today. As Paul Verhoeven commented after seeing them, "[I] brought the Fed Nets to a new level."

As an additional editor, I had my hand in other scenes. Take a look.

From Animatic to VFX. Sometimes I  have to see what isn't there. Compare the animatic sequence to the final sequence. We had to re-edit for Walmart, otherwise it would be dead on. It has to be!

The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris lessmore

Editing animation is a different editorial process. The editing happens before production and is the blueprint for the animators.  Rather than working with footage, I worked with storyboards.  The biggest challenge was understanding pace in context of how a body or object moves through space and time. It took a while to get used to this order of creation, but I finally warmed up to it and in the end it won an Oscar.

From animatic to animation.

A glimpse at the process.

American Virgin

A dramadey requires tapping into the emotional moment and being able to pull out the humor in the pain of the performances.

Kiss Me Deadly

Where does a spy go when the Cold War ends? He runs.... Then he puts the pieces of the puzzle back together.

Alien Express

This scene was a challenge. They shot at the end of the day with time slipping through the hourglass and we simply didn't get all the coverage. Working with the director and the producers, we came up with the idea to cut it together "Bourne Ultimatum style". The only problem is that it wasn't shot that way. However, it was shot handheld, so I was able to grab camera movements and create a more chaotic feel.

There's nothing more fun than aliens,

especially when Lou Diamond Phillips

is the badass hero.
